One of my best friends from high school is rockin' it in the music scene! Her name is Sara Kryscio or "Ms. Sara" if you will. Attend my wedding? Yes, she was the live music performance during the ceremony, (Brandi Carlile's song "If There Was No You"). Sara has always been uberly talented, she is just wrapping up a West Coast Tour! I am happy to share some of her talent with you right now!
How addicting is that song?
Watch her latest music video with Pasadena, and if you are feeling so inclined (please!) view it on Beat 100 and throw a couple of votes their way! It only takes a second to vote!
Ms. Sara on Pasadena:
I met the guys in Baltimore a few years back when they we're recording the "Sick & Tired" album. I sang back-ups. When they went back in the studio to record"Nowhere Fast" I did back up vocals again but this time they asked me to come on a 6 week tour in the fall of 2012. I accepted and now I'm a full time member of the band Pasadena and I couldn't be happier. I also get to open for the band doing my own originals. I hope to release an album in the Fall of 2013.
Or the summer shoes from the winter shoes... Yes it's that time of year where one must change out the winter & fall wear for the spring & summer. I guess I am a little late in doing the switch, but I was procrastinating. However, the heat around here will let me procrastinate no longer! (I needed my summa pj's- big time!) It's also that time of year that I take a big ole haul to Good Will, though I always have a hard time deciding who is going to make the cut? Who stays and who goes? I will admit there are some flip flops that should've left ages ago, but the memories attached to them are too dear to my heart. Those babies won't be leaving until they have no souls left!!! Pardon me, soles left. Ahem.
Shoe Gluttony at it's worst
I don't know why I attribute feelings to each pair, like they would be sad to leave my closet. Perchance I can blame it on too many viewings of The Brave Little Toaster during my formative years?
Okay, off to bed you guys! Sleep tight. (and stick me in the looney tunes bin)
Do you guys personify anything? Or hold an article of clothing as a memento?
How does one even begin to pack for one of the fashion capitals of the world? This is not going to be a simple task. One part of me wants to be the good traveler, totting along a simple pair of keens and the necessities. Easy, breezy tourist.... right....
Except that's SO NOT ME!!! Gah, I have to figure out where to stuff my heels, and my big floppy hat, and my Audrey Hepburn sunglasses, and all the costume changes I want to have throughout the day- unbeknownst to my husband. I think he will forgive me right? It is Paris after all!
Last night David and I ventured to the Nashville Symphony Orchestra! We had tickets to see Brandi Carlile perform. She is such a gifted singer/songwriter; her songs truly touch your heart. During our wedding ceremony we had a talented friend, Ms. Sara, sing a rendition of "If There Was No You" (accompanied whistling by the bridesmaids, groomsmen and ourselves). It couldn't have been more special. Though Brandi didn't play that particular song last night, she much exceeded our expectations. Her voice is a power house, and only magnified with a symphony behind her.
This past weekend Nashville celebrated their premier springtime, sporting, and social event The Steeplechase! According to their website the event is always, "attracting the best horses and riders in America as well as the crème de la crème of Southern Society." Check out the Iroquois Steeplechase for more info. Heartbreakingly, I had prior commitments and was unable to attend. :(.... However, my number one correspondent and partner in blog was on the job! Rachel to the rescue! I couldn't think of putting out this week's fashion looks without including derby styling from the beloved event! Her accounts below:
My first Steeplechase was quite the experience! It offered a chance for friends to congregate in the fresh country air at Percy Warner Park, partake in festivities, and mingle with fellow Nashvillians. It was clear Nashville is a fashion-minded community by all of the well-dressed participants at the event, even though we have chosen to feature only a few select fashionistas.I will definitely be attending this event next year, and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in horses, fashion, outdoor events, or mingling with friends and family. I’m looking forward to it and am already getting ideas for my hat!!
This dazzling darling took Steeplechase style to a whole new wowza level!! The many details and accents of her dress can only be described as “eye candy” from her custom-made frock, to her carefully planned jewelry, to her hat with its hand-painted butterfly. So many visual interests, there was no doubt that this gorgeous girl knew her style!
Thanks again to Rachel and Chelsea K. for their reporting work and great photos!
If you would like to check out more about this event and mark your calendars, so you don't miss out like me, here is the link again Iroquois Steeplechase.
I leave you now with a video from their website with coverage from 2012.
The list is much shorter this week as we are back on our regular schedule. Our quicker review is posted below. Watch it for our recommendations, there aren't any spoilers.
Two weeks ago when my parents were visiting, we went shopping at Nordstrom. My mom and I were combing through some racks when she said, "Oh, I like that girl's skirt. Chelsey isn't her skirt cool? Chelsey, isn't that Hayden Panettiere?" I looked up and lo and behold- it was. And you know what? She did indeed have a very cool skirt on. I am an actress and I have worked as an extra on the set of ABC's Nashville; I have seen & conversed with Ms. Panettiere a couple times before, however I have never seen her "off duty" look. She looked different not all made up, still pretty, still tan.
Would you believe that not four days later, when Rachel and I were wondering around taking pics for the What's Haute in Hillsboro post, Clare Bowen (also starring in Nashville) walked right past me! By the time I told Rachel I had spotted Clare (how very Gossip Girl of me), Ms. Bowen had disappeared. Dejected, because I had wanted to take a pic for the Patti Cake Fashion Post we decided to stop in Hot & Cold for a consoling popsicle. Another lo and behold, Clare Bowen was sitting in there with only me and Rachel! I totally chickened out and didn't ask. So we just sat there, two tables away, giggling and eating our popsicles.
So we got a little behind in our movie watching because of my family visiting from WI, however we caught up and now have quite a few under our belts since my last post. And as a new addition a video!
Movies (and one show) we watched are pictured below. Did you see any of these? What were your thoughts?
As always I appreciate all of your comments and I really love hearing your opinion!
