Cropped Out

Hope everyone had a fun Memorial Weekend!  We took advantage of the wonderful weather to walk around town and then grilled out with friends.  And since we are all self proclaimed foodies, it was a fabulous grill out!!!  I will give you a glimpse of the fresh strawberry margaritas my friend Jen and I made.  The peace d'resistance was definitely the homemade cinnamon whipped cream that she brilliantly decided to place on top.  I know what your thinking, whipped cream on a margarita?- but yes.  Always yes when it comes to whipped cream.  Channeling my inner Kim K. for this outfit, as she is the queen of body form dresses.  It was the perfect weather to test out my new crop top!

Key Lime in Kentucky

This week I thought I would share some of my pre-derby planning.  When choosing an outfit for a big event, (ahem the Kentucky Derby as seen here) always take photos.  They tell the truth, more than the dressing room mirror.  I had two dress potentials for the big day, but in the end this little key lime number won out.  I had wanted my hat to be more thrilling, and I did purchase some extra ribbons and bows as add ons.  However, I ended up liking it better as a simplistic look.  I know, not very derby of me.  Next year I will go bold or stay home.  These sandals were life savers though, as they were dressed up enough for the outfit, but perfect for standing around all day.  I felt very bad for the ladies who were wondering through crowds, shoes in hand, as there was broken glass everywhere.  Mint julep sellers were giving commemorative cups, and as more people were drinking the contents, more glasses were slipping through loose fingers.  Make sure to bring flip flops for walking back to the car!!!

Pockets are always a plus!

Kentucky Derby or Bust!

This past weekend I had the privilege of attending the Kentucky Derby.  Between the majesty of the horses and the bright colors of lady's dresses, I dared not blink, for fear I would miss something.  One thing was for certain, hot neon colors were abound and pink was in!

We arrived, just as the sun was coming up over Churchill Downs, and we were not the first ones.

And some jockeys!

Would you believe that we parked one block away from Churchill Downs and it took us an hour and 37 minutes to get back to our car at the end?  Would you believe that I would do it again? :)  Special thanks to all the lovelies that posed for pictures!  xoxo
