Key Lime in Kentucky

This week I thought I would share some of my pre-derby planning.  When choosing an outfit for a big event, (ahem the Kentucky Derby as seen here) always take photos.  They tell the truth, more than the dressing room mirror.  I had two dress potentials for the big day, but in the end this little key lime number won out.  I had wanted my hat to be more thrilling, and I did purchase some extra ribbons and bows as add ons.  However, I ended up liking it better as a simplistic look.  I know, not very derby of me.  Next year I will go bold or stay home.  These sandals were life savers though, as they were dressed up enough for the outfit, but perfect for standing around all day.  I felt very bad for the ladies who were wondering through crowds, shoes in hand, as there was broken glass everywhere.  Mint julep sellers were giving commemorative cups, and as more people were drinking the contents, more glasses were slipping through loose fingers.  Make sure to bring flip flops for walking back to the car!!!

Pockets are always a plus!

  4. Your dress was perfect for that event. The lime green worked. I can only imagine how happy your feet were. I was in Vegas that weekend and girls were walking around with ridiculously high platform heels and all I could do was laugh. They were miserable.

    1. Thanks love! There is definitely an expiration time on high high heels. With no chairs available, I have a 3 hr limit. ;)

  5. Oh, I think this is a perfect Chelsey outfit! The color is fabulous on you and I'm dying over those adorable pockets!
Broken glass and drunk bare feet sound horrifying! I'm still pretty jealous you got to go!!
It's my pleasure - thanks for stopping over every week!

  7. Pockets on dresses make any dress that much better! :) I agree, tal=king a picture of an outfit is much better than looking in a mirror. I snap a selfie of all my outfits to make sure they look good before leaving the house :) You look amazing! Sounds like you made a smart shoe choice compared to the other ladies!

  8. This is so much fun, and I agree with Kacie ^^ Pockets FTW!! Your manicure is SO PERFECT. Love it. I also think your "simplistic" hat was a great choice. One, for the sun protection. Two, because your dress is a kind of a statement dress I think the less-statement hat is a nice balance. Although I'm sure Derby Fashion rules are different than everyday. :)

  9. I need a neon nail polish just like that. I was thinking about a pink neon, but I adore the one you have on. Your hat is also fabulous!

    1. Thanks Tatiana! I got it in store at Victoria's Secret. I looked for it online and didn't see the exact color. I love it too though, because it is a pastel neon, so it's not so harsh. And I didn't have to put a white base underneath. Love your latest outfit post too!
