Movie Marathon Review: Episode 4

Dressed up Ramen!

Are we talking black tie?  No silly gooses!  David and I are obsessed with Phở, (pronounced fa) a vietnamese noodle soup with thinly sliced meat and herbs.  There are many different ways to have your phở, however we figured out a really easy way to have it at home- without having to run to the Vietnamese Restaurant or Asian Grocery store.  Yes that also means it's not authentic, but in a pinch it sure does the trick.  (Or maybe it just makes us feel more grown up by saying we are not eating the ramen of our college days, but phở.)  Oh well, who gives a phở.

First Step: Make the ramen as usual on the stovetop.  Last two minutes before noodles are done, crack an egg in the pot.  (Essentially you poach the egg, read this post for more on that: Somewhere Poached Eggs.)  

Second Step:  Pour the contents of the pot (noodles, water, and egg) into your serving bowl.  Add the ramen seasoning.  (We split one package between our two bowls)  Mix it in.  Try not to break the egg yet.

Third Step:  Now this is where it gets fun, add whatever you like!  We usually add handful of spinach, cilantro, asian basil, tomatoes, or green onion.  Just whatever we have on hand.

Fourth Step:  Secret ingredients!  Add one spoonful of each to your bowl.  Sun Luck Pure Sesame Oil, Nakano Seasoned Rice Vinegar in Roasted Garlic, Kikkoman less sodium Soy Sauce.  These are staples in our pantry.

This is the MONEY spoonful!  A little broth, a little egg yolk- YUM!  C'est Magnifique!

What's Haute in Hillsboro?

Walking around in our little Hillsboro Village I always see such lovely ladies promenading past with different fashion tastes; each declaring their personalities from the sidewalks.  I love going down there and people watching.  Fashion inspiration happens once every 3-4 minutes in Hillsboro (a trendy little spot in Nashville).  Featured below are a handful of girls that I flagged down who kindly agreed to have their picture taken for some street style.

J.Crew Winner Chicken Dinner!

Stumbling into the blogging culture I discovered, aside from all the fun fashion pics, hair & make-up tips, and great recipes that are out there, (can it get better than that?) there is an additional bonus-  Giveaways!!! Whahaha!!!

I love contests!  In particular- raffle contests, and the blogosphere, is littered with them!  Literally, someone was giving away litter the other day.  I kid, I kid.  (Sorry it's late and I am finding myself particularly entertaining tonight)

Where was I?  Ah yes, the contests!  I love contests, especially ones that are real!  And by real I mean feasible.  And by feasible I mean, you actually see and know the people getting the prizes (bc it's other bloggers).  I'm not talking take the Taco Bell survey on the back of your receipt and you may win one million tacos!  I enter those too, and I never find out about who won... don't you think if someone won a million tacos it would be on the news!?!  No one ever wins those things, and yet- I always enter!    One time about three years ago I entered a contest in Shape Magazine, and I won.  And I was like:

Feasible contests exist- and there are winners!!!  So yes, in the blogging world where contest abound, I frolic!  It's just so exciting and adrenaline rushing.  HEY ITS THE SIMPLE THINGS!  Plus I have found some of my favorite blogs through giveaways!!!

This past month I won a $25.00 gift card for J.Crew thanks to Jessica Who & The Serena Saga.  A week after that, I won a $50.00 one thanks to Style Elixer and Coffee Beans & Bobby Pins.  (Great blogs, check 'em) You know what that is people?  That's $75.00 to spend at J.CREW!!!  That's like half a shirt or a whole pair of sox!!!  Ah, yes, but if you shop when it's 30% off store wide (including clearance items)- that's an outfit!!!
