Paris in Stripes

Confession:  When I saw this dress in the store I had premeditated thoughts of it twirling under the Eiffel Tower whilst holding an environmentally responsible, yet chic, canvas bag of baguettes and peonies.  Every girls' "Free People" photo shoot dream.  Hmmm...

While the accessories didn't make it, (or hairspray for that matter- sheesh!) the dress did have a wonderful time in Paris!  Channeling my inner Audrey Hepburn proved to be a challenge, especially since my hair was fighting a losing battle with the weather gods.  (And because of an accidental Marilyn Monroe moment involving me, a subway grate, and a motorcyclist)  But who cares, we were in Paris!  C'est la Vie!

Dress: Express, Belt: Express, Shoes: Charlotte Russe (Similar), Sunnies: Coach (Similar)

To Paris with love, xoxox

What would you wear under the Eiffel Tower?

Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda: Steeplechase

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

This past weekend Nashville celebrated their premier springtime, sporting, and social event The Steeplechase!  According to their website the event is always, "attracting the best horses and riders in America as well as the crème de la crème of Southern Society."  Check out the Iroquois Steeplechase for more info.

Heartbreakingly, I had prior commitments and was unable to attend.  :(....  However, my number one correspondent and partner in blog was on the job!  Rachel to the rescue!  I couldn't think of putting out this week's fashion looks without including derby styling from the beloved event!  Her accounts below:

My first Steeplechase was quite the experience!  It offered a chance for friends to congregate in the fresh country air at Percy Warner Park, partake in festivities, and mingle with fellow Nashvillians.  It was clear Nashville is a fashion-minded community by all of the well-dressed participants at the event, even though we have chosen to feature only a few select fashionistas. I will definitely be attending this event next year, and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in horses, fashion, outdoor events, or mingling with friends and family.  I’m looking forward to it and am already getting ideas for my hat!!

This dazzling darling took Steeplechase style to a whole new wowza level!!  The many details and accents of her dress can only be described as “eye candy” from her custom-made frock, to her carefully planned jewelry, to her hat with its hand-painted butterfly.  So many visual interests, there was no doubt that this gorgeous girl knew her style!

Thanks again to Rachel and Chelsea K. for their reporting work and great photos!

If you would like to check out more about this event and mark your calendars, so you don't miss out like me, here is the link again Iroquois Steeplechase.

I leave you now with a video from their website with coverage from 2012.

Spotted: Hayden Panettiere & Clare Bowen

Two weeks ago when my parents were visiting, we went shopping at Nordstrom.  My mom and I were combing through some racks when she said, "Oh, I like that girl's skirt. Chelsey isn't her skirt cool?  Chelsey, isn't that Hayden Panettiere?"  I looked up and lo and behold- it was.  And you know what?  She did indeed have a very cool skirt on.  I am an actress and I have worked as an extra on the set of ABC's Nashville; I have seen & conversed with Ms. Panettiere a couple times before, however I have never seen her "off duty" look.  She looked different not all made up, still pretty, still tan.

Would you believe that not four days later, when Rachel and I were wondering around taking pics for the What's Haute in Hillsboro post, Clare Bowen (also starring in Nashville) walked right past me!  By the time I told Rachel I had spotted Clare (how very Gossip Girl of me), Ms. Bowen had disappeared.  Dejected, because I had wanted to take a pic for the Patti Cake Fashion Post we decided to stop in Hot & Cold for a consoling popsicle.  Another lo and behold, Clare Bowen was sitting in there with only me and Rachel!  I totally chickened out and didn't ask.  So we just sat there, two tables away, giggling and eating our popsicles.
The Point: Both Hayden Panettiere and Clare Bowen's "off duty" looks had this lovely, flowy, prairie chic vibe going on.  Hayden had a long, ivory skirt on that can be described as a combination of the two skirts pictured below sans the 90's belt.  She was wearing ivory/white from head to toe.  Clare had a shorter, handkerchief styled skirt on with an ivory macramé sweater over it and her hair twisted into a simple bun on top.  Since I didn't get pics with either one, I decided to channel my inner desperado/ boho starlet and recreate their look myself.  That's just as cool as getting pics with them right???  Right....

Kept make-up simple.  Eyeshadow in snakebite from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette,  L'Oreal Extra Volume Collagen Mascara in Black.  Garnier skin Renew Anti- Dark circle roller for under my eyes, obvi.  Bobbie Brown Bronzing Powder in natural.  Sephora clear gloss on lips, though I think most of it had worn off by the time of this photo. haha

I will leave you with this quick Hayden interview, she's working with the Cotton people.

Aztec-ly what are you saying?

Haha, like my corny title?  Looking at my partner in crime, the lovely & beautiful Rachel, that title came into my head and stuck.  So we're going with it folks!!!  Lightly patterned aztec print on her shirt & pants, "Rachel, what aztec-ly are you saying?"  Please read that question in an eccentric foreign professor voice, with white hair and tiny circular glasses, and then maybe you will get as much joy out of it as I am.

Okay, without any further ado, Rachel's outfit post!
